About The Artwork
This painting is a triptych and the panels can be hung in 50 different combinations, creating paintings of various sizes and shapes. The inspiration was a bizarrely shaped Asian Water Caltrop seed. The exotic horned shape and the fact that the roots float and grow in water and are up to 10 feet long prompted the linear motif with the strong centre. This painting is a deep slate colour which has many nuances - including iridescent anthracite. The silvery lines are indented and all connect, no matter in which figuration the panels are hung. I love the fact that acrylic paint can be thickly applied and textured, so my centre piece became sculpted. The painting comes with a template and hanging instructions for all 50 configurations as well as hanging hardware. It is coated in a UV protectant finish and the edges are painted and gallery wrapped. Flowing, powerful and versatile, this painting can fit into any space.
