About The Artwork
In this piece, I tried to harmonize a variety of elements and materials that come from ancient traditional Chinese culture and western culture. I also used Chinese traditional calligraphy skills to show the poem describing the lotus which is translated "she comes from the ooze, yet remains stainless; though baptized by ripples, she stands modest." With the same spirit of the lotus, we need to conquer difficulties and become better ourselves. I used Chinese tea and Pepsi. As we know, tea is a marked symbol of Chinese health culture and Pepsi can somehow, stand for contemporary American culture. I want to demostrate that whatever country you come from, everyone has right to pursue health. It has the Chinese version of American Dream. The lotus can easily grow up in any place and becomes very beautiful, as if a person has financial problem but works hard, he can finally becomes rich and succeddful. The lotus also has religious symbolism that means sacredness and immortality. Moreover, I found that different materials have distinvtive effects, and when they met each other, a wonderful plot can appeared.

Therefore, many artworks appear to describe what people experience, and what they feel about the environment around them. I also create this kind of artwork. In my opinion, the best art can show the theme. I want everyone to recognize and expresses my own painting styles.
