A few years ago, I came home one day only to find my daughter watching the Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast. She was near the ending where the young French maiden was found struck with grief after finding the beast dead from sacrificing his life to protect the girl. After sitting down and watching the whole movie play out with my daughter, I realized how grave the situation would have been had the beast not transformed into a man. Would the maiden still continue to love him? This has inspired me to create Lovers, a tale of a forbidden love with two perspectives. The outline of the story emits from the left corner and elaborates in small details. In the center of the painting, a monster is holding a fair creature in tender arms. As he is cradling her, a set of images flashes out between them. Some are gruesome images while others are beautiful tender and lovely images. These images represent the different images from a beautiful and ugly perspective.
