This painting is the story of my childhood. Its a painting of a friend's child and her pony but it is all that I aspired to for years when I was growing up.. I wanted my own pony and at the age of 11 my dreams came true. I had to learn to care for him through our harsh winters and learned about responsibility. I always had a coat too big for me but remembered being so cold that I warmed my hands under his chin. I wanted to paint the total love a child has for an animal.

I am a Fire fighter and I live in one of the most beautiful parts of the U.K in the Peak District.I have recently started to paint in oils and my passion is people in scenes,or moments in life that are pleasing to me. I am known as my maiden name Nicola Richardson in the Art world as I originally started doing watercolours of animal portraits to earn my daily bread. I trained as fire Fighter in my 30's as I was wanted to challenge myself physically and liked the idea of helping others.This now allows me to paint exactly what I like.
