FERNANDA QUAGLIA was born in Scandiano, a small city in the region of Reggio Emila, Italy on July 11th, 1977. At the age of 5 she moved to Albanella, a small village not far away from Salerno and very close to Paestum, one of the most exciting cultural cities established in the VIIth century B.C. At the tender age of 9, Fernanda developed a talent for music. She performed as a singer and saxophone player at piano bars, pubs and open air events, participated in several music festivals, and won several singing competitions, but at the age of 18 she decided to stop her career on the stage and pursue her passion for fine art. In the meantime, Fernanda received her high school diploma specializing in graphic arts, and photography at the "Istituto Statale d'Arte" in Salerno. After school, Fernanda taught herself how to paint, focusing on portraits with great success. Since 2000, Fernanda has spent her time painting and sculpting as a full time endeavor. Fernanda participates in several collective and personal exhibitions. Her paintings are shown in Salerno, Naples, Rome and Florence. Since 2004 she has been actively involved as a co-founder of TRAARA, an artistic association promoting and supporting all art mediums. TRAARA organizes events and exhibitions in order to allow access and visibility in all the historical centers of the Salerno province. At a national exhibition of contemporary art called the "Award Premio Quartissimo 2009," Fernanda won first prize for her painting entitled "Paesaggi di guerra" for "War landscapes" and arranged a personal exhibition at Centro Museale QuARTissimo in the city of Quartu Sant'Elena in Sardinia. Among the recent events there, "Deux Visions de l'Art" was held at the hall of the French Castle Agropoli, a two-person exhibition, participating at the Biennale of Chianciano 2011 at the Museum of Art Chianciano Terme in Siena and the "I CAN DO THAT "art show collective in Chicago in 2012. Her works have been published today in several catalogues. Currently, Fernanda resides in Chicago.
