Madrone Tree, Guadalupe Mountains National Park Painting

This framed oil painting was inspired by a hike in the Guadalupe Mountains National Park in Texas. This is a beautiful Madrone tree. The bark was amazingly colorful and varied from rich gray, to lavender, to rust red, to pink, to white, and the leaves created a dappled canopy. The day was a stunning sky blue, and as I looked up into the leaves that blue contrasted to the many greens of the leaves and the kaleidoscopic bark colors. This painting is framed in a black and silver floating frame that is about 1.5" deep. The detail photo shows a corner of the frame. It is brushed silver even though the light bouncing in the photo makes it appear gold-ish in tone. The painting with the frame is 22" x 18".
