About The Artwork
From my journal: "This painting is a reflection of a dream that I had. in this dream, I am surrounded by nature, in a wooded area. I am sitting on the ground with my eyes closed and I can feel the earth below me. I'm listening to the sounds around me, I'm feeling the calm breeze upon my skin, and I can smell the scent of dirt. There is so much going on around me. It's chaotic, yet calm. My eyes are still closed and I am visualizing the life I want to manifest for myself. I am taking slow, deep breaths and feel as if my manifestation has already happened. I am living in the end. I open my eyes and take in the scenery. I see colors, so many colors. They're beautiful and they make me feel comfortable. The trees, the earth, the many plants and animals; it's as if they all knew me. I feel a familiar feeling while surrounded by it all; like I've been in this place before. This reassures me that all will be okay and everything is working out." Many layers of acrylic paint, dried paint and modeling paste was used to help create thick textures. Paint was applied with a trowel, paint brushes and palette knives. Mireka Starr is an individual that is passionate about care. Not only does this show in her work as a CCA, it speaks loudly through her abstract expressionism and portrait art. Mireka describes painting as the love of her life. Mireka found this love in 2014 when her late friend and mentor, Davyd Whaley began to encourage her to use art as a form of self expression. Once she put paint onto a canvas she hasn’t stopped! Mireka uses a variety of colours, textures, and techniques as a way to convey her thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Adding to her style, she began to experiment with portrait work. This experiment became an added style after much time and dedication to perfecting this technique. As of late, Mireka has used most of her time creating new pieces as she creates artistic representations of her current reality.
