About The Artwork
I've been painting falling figures for a number of years, and enjoy capturing that moment of limbo, that snapshot of time. A moment not possilble to capture in reality, but possible in paint. For me, it alludes to a dreamscape, a place of possibility, freedom and peace. I used a model on a trampoline in order to make this painting, so the figure could be travelling up as well as falling down, which I love. Although the figure is painted in much detail, the brushwork around her is expressive and loose, which gives the painting a light, airy feel. It's a fairly neutral painting, with pops of pink and turquoise. Memory Catcher is painted on deep edge canvas, framed in an off white tray frame, ready to hang.

Through drawing and painting, Patsy McArthur deals with various themes in her work but in many of the images, there is a common feeling of strength and liberation. She often strives to make images that convey a sense of power and energy or potential energy. Patsy McArthur was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1976 and studied at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen, winning the Royal Scottish Academy John Kinross Travel Scholarship on graduation. Since then she has lived and worked in Florence and Barcelona where she completed a Masters Degree in European Fine Art in 2001. She has exhibited widely throughout the UK and internationally, and in recent years has had solo shows in London and Geneva as well as participated in art fairs throughout the US and Asia.
