This painting represents a humble woman lovingly holding a baby. She wears a black scarf, grieving for all that's been lost. The golden aura lays above her head, as well as other layers of her etheric energy field. The silver-gold-leaf plated lines represent energy cords, strings of vibrations surrounding all of us. The woman reminds of the image of Mother Mary holding Jesus in her hands, or within her body. This visual ambiguity of where the child is - in the hands or in the womb - has been done on purpose. We all expect for a savior to come and take care of everything, while is is within us! His return lays in our own remembrance of who we truly are. The Goddess has no face on purpose, as she is weaved from light. Her body is in a shape of an egg. An egg had played a symbolic role in the Egyptian myth of Creation. Romans used eggs as a burial offering. The custom of giving eggs as gifts continues today, especially at Easter, the celebration of resurrection and the awakening of nature. An egg became a symbol of life because it encloses nascent life to emerge from it. It embodies the idea of rebirth and rejuvenation in the cycle of life, reflected also in its shape, with neither beginning nor end. The woman emerges from a spiral, the Fibonacci Golden Spiral, the Universe, the perfect form of life and matter, reminding us that we are all perfect and that it is the Universe who is our Creator. The color of spiral resembles water, which is the main catalyst of life on Earth. On a larger scale, the painting addresses life and death, love, divinity, creation and the primeval cosmic origins of all. The child will live and thrive, as he is loved and carried by his Creator. The painting is signed, dated, and titled on the back.

Moldova
Cristina Balan is an abstract artist. Born in Moldova, she studied arts from the age of five. Very early on, her works were exhibited at various artistic performances in Moldova and abroad. The fall of the Soviet Union paused Cristina’s creative ascension, as after graduating the School of Fine Arts she had to work in the corporate world to be able to support herself. In her thirties, she became a prominent business community leader, and in early forties was appointed as the Ambassador to the United States. In 2019, after an almost 20-year hiatus from painting, Cristina returned full-time to art, her abstract paintings being quickly noticed and appreciated by the public. Contemporary art magazines featured her works. Her paintings have been displayed in art shows in Washington D.C., New York City, and Kiev. Cristina’s works are currently featured by art galleries from NYC, Tokyo, Barcelona and Treviso.
