About The Artwork

This is a preliminary study of an oil/acrylic on canvas painting is 24" x 18" unframed. This painting is in progress as of 10/02.12 and the colors may change in the final painting. The story for this painting is that the mermaid has fallen in love with a sailor, but alas, because they are of different species there is no way to consummate their love. Therefore, she beaches herself praying that The Almighty will have mercy on her soul. There she lies, madly in love and dying of dehydration. However, The Creator takes pity upon her and allows her body to slowly mutate into that of a human, except for one thing, she is nearly immortal and the sailor is not. As her scales are shed and her female organs go through a metamorphosis, she takes on the form of as beautiful human female as ever lived, a Goddess (No, not a Charley Sheen Goddess) The only drawback is that she will by far outlive the love of her life, but that is the cost of her desire. However, out of the goodness of His Immortal Heart, God condescends that her soul will find her lover’s in the after life and that in each of their mortal reincarnations, they will meet and be lovers. The study, a Miniature Collectible of 11' x 8.5" is also available. These miniatures are specially priced for my clients who collect my miniatures as well as those who would like to begin collecting them. despite their popularity, they are unique originals sold on a first come, first served basis. This miniature 11' x 8.5" is $350.00.
