DAYMON (Gr)-(the mythical thinking and poetry) Genius of anxiety that stirs desires or passions. (ancient polytheistic beliefs) divine being (good or bad) spirit, spirit. @ (the romantic creations) personification of rebellion and heroism.
♦Daemon (classical mythology)
♦The words "dæmon" and "daimōn" are Latinized versions of the Greek "δαίμων" ("godlike power, fate, god") a reference to the daemons of ancient Greek religion and mythology, as well as later Hellenistic religion and philosophy. Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and deities, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the deities themselves (see Plato's Symposium)

About The Artwork

"The artist has chosen a theme of deep reflection, rooted in mythology and folklore, and a subject of debate over metaphysics. To remove any doubt on the correctness of the article title, I should say that it contains an exceptional writing: daimon – daemon. The daemon – the immaterial creature specific to polytheistic beliefs, with its dual nature as well as with multiple nuances – is a mythological entity difficult to define but especially challenging for any artist in any field. Nowadays, the demon seems to imply mostly one way of defining – the one of evil, if it is to think that even a global giant Internet portal chose to designate the failing of sending a mail as “mailer-daemon”. The phrase is assumed by this Corporation and associated with the word “failing”. In his meaningful piece of art, Cătălin Tzetze Rădulescu explores the two sides of a daemon, both good and evil, without one to exclude the other, as well as the multiplicity of moods and emotional nuances. It is important to remember that Cătălin is a multi-valent artist, being a well-known bluesman as he is the founding member of the “Blue Monday Ministers” band. The daemon appears to be a perpetual source of inspiration for the artist, especially the good side of it. The artwork clearly has nothing in common with simplistic beauty or facil pastel shades. It is about a human form, without a well-defined face – or maybe that human face is hidden to the viewer’s sight – the interpretation is to each and every one of the art viewers; it is about a form that is in a kinematics of visual obstructions, of blocking, of negation but of affirmation in the same time and in a unique way. The artwork is rather spun off from a world of shadows, of human turmoil and anxiety, of metamorphoses and final evolution towards a long-awaited wellness. Cătălin confessed that, in the year of 1980, he had the privilege to meet Nichita Stănescu, the author of the poem “My Daemonul towards me” (in romanian: “Daimonul meu către mine). His work of art, inspiringly entitled “My Daimon”, is dedicated to the poet and his poem."
