About The Artwork

'Nature Infinie (Infinite Nature)' is from a collection called 'Nature Fragile' that documents my response to the devastating impact of human beings on the natural world. This painting was the first in the series, born of a still life work that I was struggling with for weeks. In partially destroying the piece by covering most of it, the inspiration was born to show nature in a claustrophobically shrinking world, as if looking through a pinhole camera, or watching the end of an early b&w film. The natural world is disappearing, with the focus on the vulnerable remains of a once vibrant environment. The hope is that we finally take notice and nurture what is left back into life. There is the ghost of a healthier plant behind the one that is wilting, the two directions we can take.
