About The Artwork
I choose this medium of cold wax, encaustic wax and oil pain pigment. The different wax method s allowed me to create a push pull effect with oils. Many years ago I was living in Brooklyn Newyork near propect Park, while minding an elderly aunt who was until. I had travelled over from Ireland and it was August. Each day I would take a break and spend a little time in the new York botanical Gardens. Daily I watched the water lilies, lotus flowers and the koi fish and turtles swimming elegantly in the beautiful lily ponds. It peaceful. Later I would live in Hong Kong and was mesmerised by the stunning koi fish. how they were believed to be lucky and would bring wealth and good luck. This painting took 8 months to complete. I feel it part of me and I find brings my mind peace. I hope that it will bring beauty, luck and wealth to its new home. This painting is deep egded and is ready to hang though the new owner could also add a frame , the art work is designed to hang without frame.
