About The Artwork

This is another work of the series of cityscapes from my last trip to New York. Painted with the technique I am using in my abstract works overlapping layers of color and scraping, I love the results I am obtaining in this urban works. I plan to comeback to New York this summer to continue vibrating with the city energy and colors, and collecting more urban scenes and perspectives to paint. I love New York, and you will love this painting. This triptych has three individual canvases 10 X 30 inches each. The depth of the canvases are 1.5 inches. Edges are painted in dark gray, ready to hang without frame. Frame is optional. A certificate of authenticity will be included with the painting. Thank you.

Biography A Glance at Chanlatte´s Work Memories and dreams of the sea, sun and sunflowers, tropical forest and brilliant blue skies are the inspiration for Marino Chanlatte, who grew up on the island of Santo Domingo. His paintings depict remembrances of his childhood and landscapes from his walks throughout the Caribbean and Central America. He paints with a pallet of pure colors: indigo, blue, red, orange, yellow, green, and purple, representing water, sky, sun, fire, sunsets, flowers and trees, all elements of nature mixed by the artist´s brush. In the midst of this feast of colors, forms, texture and matter, interpreted in a personal way influenced by his own experience and feelings, Chanlatte follows no rules, but keeps the harmony, balance and beauty of nature. Sometimes he uses thin impastos, other times he scrapes the paint on the canvas discovering new textures, but always searching new ways of expression. His abstract works feature the decomposition of landscapes, sunsets, oceans, the sky and forests, represented with light and energy, movement of colors, shapes and texture, with harmony and creativity. His work has been shown in exhibitions in New York, Miami, Belgium, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Mexico and South America. Chanlatte attended the National School of Fine Arts in Nicaragua. He has a Bachelor and a Masters Degree from The University of Puerto Rico and a PhD from the University of Florida in Gainesville. Artist Statement I started painting a long time before I realized it was my passion, and that I would be a painter. I felt the inner need to express through painting, in a freely and spontaneous way, my feelings, thoughts, ideas and fantasies that appeared as visions ... I use color, texture, shapes, light, and shadows to express myself. If my work communicates any emotion or feeling to the viewer, then I accomplished my purpose.
