Nocturne Painting

This painting depicts a spectral figure wading across a river in an isolated desert landscape amidst a brilliantly-colored sunset. The painting was inspired in general by the reality of death in our lives, and specifically in response to the passing of a good friend. I hope to convey a peaceful and positive feeling about this transformation we must all someday face. This acrylic painting on gesso-primed cotton canvas is framed with a custom-made frame which reveals the inside edges of the canvas, which are wrapped on the wood stretcher frame “gallery style”. The edges of the canvas are painted to look like an aged bronze patina. The frame itself is painted a neutral gray color and can be repainted if desired. The canvas has the look and feel of an oil painting with a glossy sheen, and has been varnished with a removable archival varnish. The painted surface has a bit of physical texture but is mostly smooth. This painting will arrive in a flat shipping box ready to hang, and includes an appropriate picture hanger and a detailed Certificate of Authenticity.
