About The Artwork

“This is a mystery”. Believe it or not, strange things happen in the world. We can talk about culture difference, and this or that religion. But in the end, some things simply cannot be explained. I first worked on this painting in 2015, with watercolour paint. I had created a woman getting ready to head out, or getting ready to sleep. No one knows. She was in a state of undress, in front of her dresser, where a brush and a mirror lay. We could have a glimpse of the background: her bedroom. Then I covered all that, and created an entirely different picture. Gold and Silver acrylic paint in the background. Black lines and forms. Everything added together to create a whole. I felt like I had created a worshipper, or maybe I was becoming one. Upon looking at this painting I had done, it felt almost like a religious picture in the making. From there we could imagine any kind of story. Which is exactly what usually happens when one sees something, which they then decide that they know the whole story of what happened and where and how and even who was involved. Have you heard Robert Evans’ saying: “there are three sides to every story: your side, my side and the truth”. Now in this particular painting, you may not see it, but if you look into the background, you may see wings and an aureole too. And you may see clouds. Or you may see a lot of abstract forms that create a picture. You may also see a Madam getting ready to go out, or a prostitute about to meet a client. Or it may be an actress getting ready to put her mask on. We all have different faces. This painting was my way to show it.

My name is Lolita and I am a Contemporary Painter. I get my inspiration from things I see and hear and read. I have a very wide imagination and my subjects aren't always real. When I walk through the streets of London, I see invisible bridges that wizards cross, children running after pixies and men and women chatting to animals beside them. I paint many subjects and work in different styles. To add to my -sometimes wild - imagination, I am also a strong believer of Achievement and Empowerment. Heroes may be flawed, but as I read somewhere before "perfect is boring" (I can't quite remember who said it, but thank you from the bottom of my heart for that). So, you may notice in my work that I create achievement through an idea or a story, a sense of Self-Belief and Greatness.
