Nympheas Painting

I am originally from French-speaking Belgium and has lived in Dallas, Texas for almost 30 years. I have been an artist my whole life, drawing and painting at a very young age. I bloomed with oil on canvas landscapes and flowers in the early 90s and fell in love with the Texan sunsets and the Japanese Gardens then. After I saw the Immersive Van Gogh exhibit in 2021, I had to pick up the brushes again and I decided to train myself in acrylics sticking to my preferred bright colors and joy-filled palette. I love playing with light and reflections and really thrive when creating sunsets or sunrises with a body of water. If I find myself in the city, it's misty or raining and I play with streetlights (lampadaires) and wet pavement at night (like in the Paris series). Lately, I found that mixed media (with a return to oil as a finish) is the most fulfilling to express the variety of the many facets reflecting my inner being. “Be you” and “Kindness & Devotion” reflect this shift in my process as well as my most recent “Female Archetype series” of 7 pieces.
