I painted “One armed arm” to practice gestural painting on a big size arm. I was looking to paint some artworks with different parts of the body: this one shows an arm which holds a banana instead of a gun. The painting looks almost photorealistic from a certain distance, while becomes more and more gestural when you get close to it. The atmosphere around it is surreal, enhanced by the deep white background which makes the details stand out. “One armed arm” is an oil on linen painting, stretched on a supported wooden frame and ready to hang.

In my paintings I focus on figures and their interaction with the landscape and architecture. After spending some years being very faithful to the samples, I am now experimenting different styles of painting and alternating portraits (mainly commissions) with sperimental artworks. Also, I am increasingly taking advantage of image editing softwares in pre-production to find the best colours and lights for the painting. I use oil colours both on wood and linen. All the materials used in the artworks are high quality, from hand primed canvas (by myself, using a classic method that prevents from aging and deterioration) to colours.
