About The Artwork

I Donated the Original to WEST COAST LEAF, 26th EQUALITY BREAKFAST (Silent Auction) taking place on March 5, 2013 @ Fairmont Hotel Vancouver BC, Canada. ""Bernet often gives back to the community by donating her art to such worthwhile events. Ill health has prevented her from creating and selling as much work as she usually does. That makes this gift especially generous. I find ORPHAN PEARL an evocative painting, sophisticated and wry image. Its allusion to the way pearls are formed from a single grain into something glorious and precious that may never be discovered or owned is suggested. Within the globular shape are sub-circles like the annual rings of a tree. The measuring stick in the left side of the composition also symbolizes growth. The marks that cluster at the bottom of the format in a piece of wood are sperm-like. They struggle to claim paternity by crossing into the zone of the unfertilized pearl’s yolk and penetrating it. The Orphan Pearl is squeezed for space, backed into the proverbial corner. I have been at service to the art community in Vancouver since arriving here in 1963 with an MA in Art History from the University of Toronto. Since then I have taught, written articles and reviews, staged exhibitions and, in recent years, given advice to artists and done appraisals."" Ann Rosenberg

Born in KLOSTERS Switzerland.I am a self taught Artist that is addicted to strong and bold colors. Creating a piece of Art is very much a psychological, emotional and spiritual process to me. It expresses my passion and what I see and feel from others. Abstract Art to me means freedom, and once I realized that, my journey as a colour addict began. I was totally taken by this feeling and today I don't have much control over what and how I paint. I paint and create what I am attracted to. Abstract Art speaks to you and it tells its own story and relates its own message, very much like music, it comes straight from the soul. http://MaggieBernet.imagekind.com/
