About The Artwork

Inspired by the music of Stevie Wonder and acknowledging joy that empowers science and healing. "This work is more lyrical in nature- lighter in palette, as well as carrying a calligraphic line quality. While I don’t necessarily differentiate a particular musical genre, Overjoyed is truly exuberant in its patterned curvilinear rhythm, accentuated by small beaded shapes. The tiny blue and violet pieces are jewel-like, as if hanging from an organic, biological or atomic chain. Therefore I feel there’s a more decorative quality in the overall motif, despite the openness the negative background space provides. The subtle fluctuations in color of the background provide another layer of calibrated movement. While the painting doesn’t necessarily hold a direct connection to healing or science in a didactic way, the energized shapes intimate growth and life." Kristen T Woodward, Professor of Art, Albright College

A Northern Virginia based career abstract expressionist, recognized for non-figurative, nonobjective and nonrepresentational paintings and drawings. The meaning in his work is expressed as an emotional experience. It also stems from a lifetime pursuit in philosophy and music. As a modernist, he is in search of new modes of visually connected spiritual expression. "Abstraction has corollary vibrations with music and pure spirituality." He also visualizes full-color, detailed works during dreams. Working in a meditation, a spontaneous interplay of complex, descriptive imagery through a flow of strokes, one leading to another. "When a painting starts to reveal complexity, there is an subconscious emphasis on asymmetrical balance." His work has been described as process oriented, non-objective, and painterly as opposed to a more conceptual or analytical abstraction. Paintings have both an organic and architectural feel.
