About The Artwork
This painting's theme is more a feeling than a tangible something. It is warm and light, and airy and mysterious. The only recognizable motif in it is a coding element, the tag < > which represents the void or a beginning, whichever the spectators will choose each time they look at it. The Passage is lightly painted with layers of oil paint on fine cotton canvas (Paris cotton) prepared by the artist at the studio. The painting is ready to be placed on the wall. Kapnissi (Athens, 1966) studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University in Greece and at the Free Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague, the Netherlands; for a period as a NUFFIC grantee. She is founding member of the Gaidaro group which from 1999-2008 presented projects advocating for wide participation in the art practice and presentation.
