About The Artwork
As part of my first serious series of abstract geometric works this painting was partly inspired by one of my favourite suprematist artists El Lissitzky and in particular his work "Beat the Whites with the Red Wedge". Although my work is not political the composition, colours and 'movement' of the work came to inform my own. Philosophically my work is closer to another Russian Art Movement called Constructivism, a movement which was in favour of art as a practice for social purposes including architecture.
