The work was inspired by the increase in protests during the pandemic. During times when our everyday existence is threatened we rise up. The painting focuses on the BLM movement. The woman is a protestor on a March. Around her float those who have lost their life’s to police brutality. Black cherubs highlight the lack of visual narrative given to the black community in religious painting. The work is part of a series of ideas on the different protests that happened in the last few years. I hope to encourage thought and dialogue in my work. T
