About The Artwork
An acrylic painting of a vast Scottish landscape capturing a scene heading up the west coast to Ullapool. The painting is made imprinting traditional lace into a thick gesso base capturing the textures of the landscape. Layers of acrylic paint and acrylic glaze are then applied and rubbed back revealing previous layers of colour and texture. The title is a quote from one of my favorite Dylan Thomas poems. Painted on Canvas board.

Having just graduated in Glasgow in Contemporary Art Practice I am focusing my creative practice in painting. Using little snippets from my daily life and work I am keen to capture wee scenes of everyday things that might go unnoticed. Using inspiration from my home and my studio I like to offer simplified scenes focusing on texture, form and colour. Collage is often used within my work, building up the layers of interest, using textural materials that emphasis the tactile qualities within the subject matter. Using layers of acrylic paints separated by layers of glaze medium gives the paintings a depth and transparency.
