Santa Fanta Painting

This illustration is made in convention of medieval illuminations. Decorative elements were taken from the "The Book of Hours". “The Book of Hours” was an illuminated manuscript popular in middle ages. It was filled with holy texts, psalms and prayers of Christians. Some pages of those different looking books were decorated with illustrations, on some were holy people, angels or biblical scenes. Texts were also decorated with flowers, leaves and animals. On this illustration in the centre there is a portrait of a bottle of a beverage and instead of the holy text there are ingredients of this drink. It puts an ordinary object in the context of sacrum. Does it mean that the object is holy? Maybe the body is profane but the idea of the soul is sacred? Or maybe the bottle only represents contemporary golden calf?
