About The Artwork
Oil painting of found bottle cap that was pushed in and washed up on the beach. This work marks a turn to painting from life, not from a photograph. I chose the found object because it was small and turned in and over in someone’s hand and tossed, like a giveaway sculpture set adrift. The patina I observed is rendered with care to reveal its depth. The plain background is how I focused on the bottle cap, as a specimen.
