About The Artwork
The wind was howling, it was the coldest February I can remember, but we were staying in St. Ives, just behind the studios at Porthmeor. I was determined to head out that afternoon and capture the light that was still somehow making its way through the clouds and captivating my soul, as it fell on the little rooftops, sand, sea and buildings behind my beloved St. Ives. Perched, somewhat precariously on the cliff overlooking that beach, working in oils and a makeshift palette made up of a sandwich box, this painting quickly appeared on board before me. My daughter appeared half way through with sandwiches and crisps (for her). It is one of the happiest memories I have and will never be sold.
