About The Artwork

Difficult nights, not sleeping and just starring into the darkness of the room with a slight beam of moonlight. The viewer must feel the desperation of constant insomnia. Oil makes it moving as if it never was finished.

Bernard Cazenave de la Roche, a self-taught artist. He has been painting with passion for seven years but the artful dates back from his youth where he used to make his drawings into comics. His early inspiration comes from being surrounded by an artistic family (his mother is a graduate of the Antwerp Institute of Arts and many of his ancestors were either artists or active in Art) All of his oil paintings are abstract and lively layered. These works are a reflection of the painter’s thoughts and are depicted in colour, shapes, lines… expressions of happiness, sadness, people, nature, the universe around us, worries… Until today his work has been exhibited on a small scale in several galleries (Campo & Campo in Antwerp). In August 2012 some of his work was exhibited at "Affordable Art Fair at Sea" in De Haan.
