Sugar N Spice is a large-size portrait painting of 39"x62" painted on linen canvas. The facial features are painted in oil while the background image is painted in acrylic, to achieve a dull-sheen effect. Sugar N Spice represents the image of the alluring fantasy woman that men cultivate in their most secret depths. Though for women it is impossible to live up to such a dreamworld image, it is a sweet and understandable concept. She is 'Le repos du guerrier", the delightful resting space during the warrior's combat, a symbol of the return home, of peace, of warmth, of loving sexuality, the fulfillment of dreams and gaiety, of tenderness and youth. She is a bonbon, a delicious candy, a doll, discovered amidst bright pink wrapping paper. If such a person can be found, whose daily life does not have to contend with real-life obstacles to her own dream fulfillment, let me know. I will paint her from life. The original painting measures 160cm High x 100cm Wide, which translates to approx. 62”x3

After a fashion design career in New York City, I now paint realistic floral watercolors, and realistic portraits in watercolors, pastels, oil on canvas and digitally tinted portraits. What motivates me to paint Native Americans in this new watercolor collection is the beauty of the true personality and character of a magnificent race of ancient people issuing from pre-history and call doing them justice an awesome honor. In my watercolor flower paintings, I am inspired by the exact luscious realism of Dutch Baroque Flower painting traditions that consoled me throughout my lonely years in boarding school, from which I drew solace in experiencing botanic beauty, elegance, luscious generosity, color, and frivolity, in short, in all things that are out of the realm of a strict upbringing. They still provide glorious satisfaction, even if my standards for classical realism still drive me.
