About The Artwork

This painting was done in May 2023 right after the snowiest winter the Wasatch Mountains had ever recorded. There were many avalanches that slid due to enormous weight of snow that gathered on the slopes of the mountains. In this picture I captured Tanner’s Gulch in Little Cottonwood Canyon. I placed my easel in what used to be tree grove by the side of the road, now there were only sharp remains of branches and tree trunks poking from under the snow, giving a visual representation about the huge force and speed of the snow mass that descended. I was inspired by how powerful and calm nature is. It accepts the seasonal and cyclic changes with peaceful knowledge that everything comes back at the end. We humans are desperately running after security and insurance of tomorrow. We want things to last and stay the same forever, but nature is constantly changing, evolving, decomposing, and blooming again. I think it is a wonderful input to consider when determining an outlook on life Painting I was envisioning how once long time ago these mountains arose from under the ground, in one of the biggest natural events to happen to this continent. I tried to follow that movement with the strokes of my brush. The mountains are lit from inside. They are the silent witnesses of all the changes, rises and falls, that come and go year by year, century to center for thousands years. The mountains see and hear all and they also know that there will be a day and they will be gone to to give space for a new form to grow.
