About The Artwork
Part of a new series of abstracted suburban Architecture from the early 1900's in Prague. The Architect depicts a beautiful functionalist building in Prague 6. The broken down and abstracted image offers the viewer 'pieces of an organised whole'. By giving less information to the viewer, they have to work and finish the image themselves, in the 'Gestalt' tradition. The underpainting/dead painting for this piece was very successful as a drawing in its own rite, it was reminiscent of Asian ink drawings and architectural plans. I consciously maintained allot of the drawing and only added subtle glaze and hints of colour to lead the viewers eye. **This Painting s Artist quality Oil paint on acrylic primed linen over a pinewood stretcher.
