About The Artwork
When creating this piece I began thinking of my country and what I have seen and experienced here. I began painting the pink background which reminded me of the pink salt lakes I have visited. Each stroke is different, some of the paint is raised, which resembles the uneaven surface in which I walked upon. I then began painting the outline of the blue cockatoo, it's feathers and layers of blue reminded me of the crystal blue oceans and jaggered coastlines. I knew I needed to create depth and fantasy to this piece and so I added the touches of gold, which resemble the bright stars at night.
