"hal min nasirin yansurna?" "Is there anyone who will come to our aid?" While making this painting, I was thinking about how alone my Maula was. As a kid, when I wasn't able to understand Karbala like I do now, I used to wonder why everyone cries the most for Imam Hussain (as), although many were martyred on the 10th of Muharram. Now I know why, because he was the one who saw all that brutality, all alone. He witnessed his whole family and companions getting killed one after another. Oh, and the grief of being the last one to go to the battlefield when he knew that after him, no one would be able to protect the tents, the children, and the women of Ahl al-Bayt. More than anything, he was alone, all alone against those thousands. No one to take his body back to the tents, and no one would say, 'I'm coming to you, Ya Maula' when he fell down from Zuljanah. Ya Maula Hussain (as), please accept my humble efforts to show the world what they did to you. Oh, Maula, I hope you hear me when I say, 'Labaik Ya Hussain (as).'"
