About The Artwork

This painting is a 'regional' painting from New Zealand. It marks the replacement of the historic truss bridges on our road and is also a spiritual metaphor. It is about Time and uses 'Time Markers'or symbols to tell a story incapulating different times ie. presence, future what is coming etc, into one painting. I have also tried to communicate different dimensions other than what we see. The horizon with open door to an unknown place. The black unknown space of what we don't understand in the foreground. It is also a painting of hope as although the bridge is falling away we are unsure of what the future holds. This painting has been sold.

Miranda is a graduate of the Wellington Polytechnic Visual Communication Course in New Zealand. After graduating Miranda was a freelance illustrator for many Wellington based Advertising Agencies. She also Illustrated childrens books by well known New Zealand authors Joy Cowley and Margaret Mahy. Miranda now paints in oils. Her theme is New Zealand birds and Landscape. She endeavours to include messages as well as aesthetics in her paintings. She believes that the surface of a painting is also important in an aesthetic sense. So here I am painting what is around me and what I love most ...birds landscape and foliage. I am in my paradise but am very aware of our changing climate and our global destruction not only of our environment but also of our thinking and values. Because I live with nature and by the seasons I notice the changes. In my painting I want to first strike the viewer with the overwhelming beauty of what is around us and then to look beyond what we see visually and realise that the most important thing is how we think and our intentions. www.tinyurl.com/mirandas-art mirandawoollett.com
