About The Artwork

The Governing Meridian is the third work in a series entitled the Direction of Colour. The work explores the concept of magnetism in all objects through shape, colour and gradient. The work is on wood symbolising a once living and breathing entity but still carrying that energy within. Throughout the series the symbol of a magnet is presented in a variety of thought out compositions dealing with magnetism's physical attributes that occur through a magnetic field and allowing objects to attract or repel each other. This work directly relates to Energy Therapy which is a traditional healing system that corrects the balance and flow of energy through the mind and the body. The Governing Meridian runs of the centre of the body over the top of the head and supports many of the body's energy functions which stabilise and clear the mind and spirit.
