This symbolic and emotive painting touches on several avenues of human coexistence but particularly deals with the silent juxtaposition of material, corporate and industrial progress and its unquantifiable human cost. The iconic and outward signs of material success represented by glittering skyscrapers contrast sharply with misery, exasperation and utter hopelessness of a vast section of society.Like any painting especially an abstract one, this painting is open to interpretation depending on the viewer and their viewpoint. The vanquished at the bottom half under a bridge may be marginalised underclass in society or they may just be white collar workers, office assistants secretaries , computer programmers IT professionals accountants and even managers who are a forgotten cogwheel in relentless march of progress . Some would find a stark resemblance of the characters shown here to the actual people, workers, office goers who flock to offices in all mega metropolises around the world. Some viewers will also find the empty lives of those captains of business and jet set tribe also represented here as their true happiness and genial currents of their souls are extinguished in pursuit of success. Within the defeated and vanquished a range of human emotions are discernible and even palpable from total resignation to fate, to survival and finally to utter defiance and even fightback.I hope you like this is as much as I enjoyed visualizing and painting it. I am inspired by Picasso and this painting has some parallels with Picasso's celebrated painting 'Guernica'.
This is an original abstract painting on primed boxed canvas and is ready to hang. The painting is signed on the side but can also be signed on front if requested and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
