The Revolution of Modern Art and the Modern Art of Revolution Painting

A few sunflower seed shells scattered all over the cover of a Spanish anthology of texts by British Section of the Situationist International. The subject of the work points straight at Ai Weiwei's famous 2010 installation in London, but also at Warhol's banana and O'Keeffe's flowers. For Spanish speaking people, just some kind of extra, then, it talks about Magritte's Treachury of Images too, as sunflower seeds are called "pipas" in Spanish, and "Pepitas de calabaza", (pumpkin seeds), is the name of the publishing house of the book depicted, being both sunflower and pumpink seeds, roasted and slightly salted, quite popular cheap snaks.
