Been pretty sick for the last week or so, but I'm back in the studio again.
Pythia will be presented as "The Woman Clothed in The Sun".
All those who love William Blake will understand.
Pythia is trying to calm the waters.
I'm still working away at the storm, as you can see.
Ironic that an enormous storm is set to hit the east coast on Friday.

August 27, 2018
Anubis, the Egyptian god of the dead, has entered the scene.
Have started working on Pythia as well as The Furies.
Pythia will be attempting to calm the waters.
Even though she's an oracle she hasn't entirely decided what to wear.
The Furies are just looking for opportunities to cause havoc.....as usual.
There is still an enormous amount of detail work and balancing to do, but it is getting exciting!

So, I was at my adult music camp at Toronto Summer Music Festival at U of T, and I had so much fun…a whole week of singing, singing, singing, all day long, and parties galore. What a treat it was!

But now I’m back to work. It’s a slow process working up a large canvas like this one. The storm is my current concern.

A painting for those who like to follow along:

I've been working on this painting for 2 weeks now and the basic colour and composition is just about set. The mood of the painting will shift a bit. I haven't touched Pythia or the Furies yet, and a dark storm is going to cross the left hand side of the work - where the boats are sailing.

So far, so good, but I must be patient as there is still the major part of the work to do. I hope to be done in about 6 weeks - with luck.

For those who are not aware of the process normally followed in an oil painting, there are usually at least 5 layers of paint laid down. At this point I've done about one and a half in most areas.

I’ve wanted to do a painting about Katrina for several years. Hurricane Katrina was a natural disaster of devastating proportion that turned into a shameful example of American disdain and denial of the poor of New Orleans.

This is the 4th painting in the Pythia Series, and will be called “The Tempest: Pythia, Katrina and The Furies”. It is 48” X 72”, or, if you prefer, 4ft X 6ft.

July 20 - The painting was blocked in on Friday the 13th of July. After a week of work, I am just sorting out the colour shapes.

I’ll post an update every once and while. I’ll post more frequent updates on my website and on Saatchi.
