In our youth, the time to explore our body intensifies. It is the time where our bodies are at its best and the temptation to explore is also at its peak. In many Catholic nations, sex is taboo for the unmarried. Young women are afraid to commit sexual acts and yet because of their youth has a heightened attraction to the opposite sex. In this painting, it is a demure act of invitation to drop a handkerchief hoping that the man she adores picks it up and gives it back to her. The contradiction lies in her nakedness. The handkerchief plays no role in this situation. Her supple and young body is enough encouragement.
