The tigers are getting hungry was influenced by a late 19th century Chinese proverb. "He who rides a tiger is afraid to dismount". The proverb impart was used by Winston Churchill in an address to the British Parliament, entitled Armistice on the 11th November 1937. " Dictators ride to and fro upon tigers which they dare not dismount and the tigers are getting hungry". A cautionary warning to leaders that demand ultimate power by military and economic dominance, while manipulating people and stifling their freedom with fear. The people they abuse for personal gain watch and wait , as time is fleeting and the tigers are getting hungry. The painting has been rendered in acrylic and gouache finished with a matt varnish on a wooden panel, mounted on a wooden cradle. (No Framing Required) The painting extends to all sides on the panel. The panel is corded and ready to hang. The artwork is titled, signed and dated on the reverse of the picture.
