About The Artwork

This piece is inspired by the Water Tower made by Tom Fruin. You can see it as you access the BQE in Red Hook. It is really a nice view, especially in a sunny day, when the colors appear bright. Water towers make me happy. It's such a New York and Brooklyn thing. Many people enjoy them and it is very Characteristic. I chose a texture like concrete to transmit the texture of the city and the tower is in the center with everything else around it more faded, to give it more importance.

Artist Biography My first passion has always been painting, which is then followed by scenography. I studied scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples. Then by a twist of fate, I found myself in the United States where I tried to follow both my passions. I have now lived in New York for 23 years where I work as a scenic artist, i.e. I paint sets for films, television series and theatre. At the same time I have never abandoned painting, to which I dedicate myself, especially in the last 10 years. I am very fascinated by weathering, and the various textures and textures of materials. I usually paint on a panels to which I apply concrete and other materials to obtain a final result that is as close as possible to reality. My intention is to bring the beauty of urban life into our homes and onto our walls. I find a lot of inspiration in the street and in the things that surround me every day and then once in my studio the images take on a life of their own. My paintings are usually large and on panels and acrylic. In the Covid period however, after finding myself stuck at home, I returned to my first passion, that is oil painting and to a more limited dimension. Infact, I started to paint more realistic scenes, inspired by the streets of Brooklyn, where I live. Now I alternate a bit between the two and I always look for new horizons.
