About The Artwork
This painting was inspired by a song called "The whole of the moon" written by the band called The waterboys . I grew up in galway and the band lived in County galway. It was an amazing song. It is about dream s and how you can search the world and travel far but sometimes those who did nt can have lived fuller lives. The medium is oil paint and cold wax techniques on a canvas and wood frame. The painting is unframed but ready to hang. The colours used are ultramine blue , shades of white and old gold . Markings are deliberate to create a push pull effect, a metal palette knife was used instead of brushes. The canvas is deep egded so that the painting stands out by 4cm from the wall or hanging space. The art work is visually very calming and still the mind when used as a meditation tool.
