About The Artwork
The painting was done in the chiaroscuro style, similar to that of a 17th century dutch portrait. The dark background allows the main subject matter to dominate. The crisp white drapery is the perfect foundation for the 'portait'. The painting demonstrates an exquisite harmony between the textural elements in this artwork, the elegant curves of the jug, the fragrance of the apples, the clean white drapery all work together to stir the senses.
