About The Artwork

Through the atmosphere of gloom, the artwork represents an attitude of duality between seductive and shy. It is made in the first layer of acrylic, which helps me get more freedom with the oil painting layer afterwards. It is made in a realistic style, but not tight. The dress and hair are made in plain black, obtaining the light from removing the painting instead of adding paint, to give more importance to the figure. This original artwork was selected in the Sant Lluc Exhibition in 2019 in Spain, and in the XIV Exhibition of Euroartes Painting and Sculpture and XV in two other Spanish cities in 2020. I was part of the FAV15% (jury's favourite 15% of the entries) in the Feb 2020 BoldBrush Painting competition and was also selected for the Front Cover in the Nr 18 of the Art Magazine Spotlight, and for my last Solo Show in 2023, "Visions of the Portrait".

I started painting in 2014 and my technique is evolving since then. I am focused mainly in representing the human figure. People is the subject matter that inspires me, that makes me feel that I am communicating something that talks about me. Regarding my artistic method, for certain works I take a planned route towards an expected result mainly in oil painting. However, recently I tend to let the work itself guide me through a more intuitive layered technique in mixed media, as the final painting is more personal and more interesting to the viewer. I held my first solo show last year and, in parallel to some commissions, I am currently working on paintings in which light plays a prominent role in the narrative of the works, sometimes represented in a more natural way and in others through more imaginative elements. My solo show "Visions of the portrait" has gathered in July 2023 the works published in the collection of the same name in this page.
