Tourist Duty Painting

Medium: Oil and Iraqi Stamps on Canvas. This work describes an imagined scene from first days of the second gulf war, a sandstorm. For me, the sandstorm, was emblematic of a strategy that had not been fully worked out. The way forward was unclear. There was a lot of discussion in the media at the time about there being no u-turns in Iraq. This work was effectively a sketch for a larger scale painting (1 x 2 metres) showing a no u-turn sign. No only was there to be u-turn but there was no obvious right turn to make either.
