About The Artwork
Living among natural meadows near the U.S./Canadian border I encounter plants that no one ever planted; they're naturals living here since before North America was colonized by the English and French. The turtlehead can startle a person since it looks like the head of a gasping fish or turtle. The flower tissue is the white of bone or marble. The red-bellied snake is a miniature non-venomous snake whose pink or red belly you'd never suspect till the snake is picked up. One reptile is here shown with one reptilian flower; two real-life neighbors in their sunlit glory.
