I don't know what a cis man has to add to the art world filled with female nudes painted by cis men. Maybe nothing. In this piece, I meditated on instagram and tiktok body parades. The commodity of body may have been put into the hands of the person with OnlyFans and social media shifting distribution from pimps to "content creator," yet, there is a face beneath the filter. An inward looking human who ages and who has to relax their tummy and who is beautiful. I don't know. I wanted to try to paint an expression of aghast at being objectified and stripped of bodily autonomy and reproductive rights. High gloss varnish is difficult to photograph. Deep blacks. Black painted sides of deep canvas.

I was born in North Carolina, and from there moved every 6 months to a year for almost my entire life, staying with relatives and friends in series apartments, houses, shacks and sometimes on the streets in WV, NC, OH, PA, IL, MS, CA, MA, RI, and WA. I've been a bookseller, welder, ditch digger, door to door screendoor seller, fence painter, landscaper, busboy, waiter, dishwasher, barista, HotTopic retail weirdo, busker, homeless beggar, thug and enforcer, janitor, screenplay writer, call center rep, lawyer, project manager, program manager, poet, artist and genealogist. When I was a 21 year old high school dropout, I started the snowball that turned into an avalanche of 9 years of contiguous education; GED, AA, BA, JD, LLM, and then promptly walked (a guided stumble really) into a career that was unrelated to all of it. Through it all, I've been writing and painting.
