About The Artwork

Vanidad Totentanz o danza de la muerte, S 126, de Franz Liszt Totentanz es el nombre de una pieza sinfónica para piano y orquesta de Franz Liszt, basada en los cantos gregorianos del Dies Irae. También se le llama “danza macabra” y desde las primeras notas se puede percibir el porqué de este apelativo. El romanticismo sentía una profunda fascinación por la cultura medieval. Y, en ese sentido, Liszt revive y actualiza las “danzas de la muerte” que recorrían los pueblos de Europa en esa época. Sin embargo, reemplaza el sentido moral que se presentaba en el terror ante la pérdida de los placeres terrenales por una ironía fantástica o grotescamente macabra. Es algo que se percibe también en el último movimiento de la Symphonie fantastique de Hector Berlioz que cita la melodía medieval (Gregoriana) Dies Irae (Día del Juicio) de una manera sorprendentemente modernista. Parece que Liszt asistió a la primera actuación de la sinfonía y se sorprendió por su poderosa originalidad. También se inspiró en el fresco "Triumph of Death" de Francesco Traini (en tiempos de Liszt atribuido a Andrea Orcagna y hoy también a Buonamico Buffalmacco) en el Campo Santo de Pisa. Ricardo Pollman ha dedicado a esa obra de Liszt una serie de pinturas abordada en distintas técnicas y estilos, desde el “retrato” de la vanidad que se contempla en el espejo encontrándose ante sí una calavera, de un rico cromatismo, hasta la lucha del caballo que se rebela contra el hombre, en una monocromía que genera un profundo dramatismo.

Manages to represent different topics to find the similarities between the food, music and atmosphere, shaping through technology perceived by the senses. Has participated with his "Live Performance" at various private events in various cities within and outside Mexico. Pollman has a collection of over 50 works, including murals and paintings done in "Live Performance". Participated in the work of "Bach to Michael Jackson" in the Teatro de la Ciudad de Monterrey. In this event did a "Live Performance" by creating a giant mural placed on the stage while the orchestra played. Pollman has supplemented his artistic proposal to develop the image label wines from California Woodbridge "and traditional Oaxacan mezcal" Elders of Lua.
