Another painting from the series " Re-mapping the barrio". The series was inspired by a request from the Conde-Duque museum in Madrid , to create some artwork inspired by the beautiful and lively area where the museum is located, to be exhibited in May 2015. Each piece of the series was painted between late February and early April. some coinciding with the Spring Equinox. In Spain we usually start feeling the first stirrings of the new season right around that time and the streets become more animated , people are longing to shed the layers of clothing imposed by the winter cold and suddenly side-walks are once again the hosts of terraces were people can sit to soak in the still timid sunshine while enjoying their drinks and "Tapas". This painting was inspired by such a day, by the promise of the renewal of life being felt all around, birds singing, trees turning to green , parks full of blooms and the smiling, happy faces of passers-by and terrace lovers. I used acrylics as the main medium and also some pigments . Again using very light washes in layers of different hues. I also used gold leaf in some areas

Deep inspiration, all techniques of artistic creation, love of colour and a constant exploration of my feelings, how the world changes and what attracts me powerfully fuse together to form the base of all my artistic work. labelling myself in any very definite and widely accepted artistic category is practically unpractical in my case, it just doe not work...I know myself to truly be an existentialist and my work is very eclectic . I am passionate about exploring all new avenues of inspiration that present themselves and find it very limiting when asked to adhere rigidly to the almost exact rendition of the same blueprint ,resulting in almost every work being identical. The type of Art that may differ somehow in tones and shapes but always reminding the viewer of all other paintings produced endlessly by the same person.I admire those with such discipline who can achieve this gallerists dream of the perfect artist but I am very conscious of what art is for me and what it means to me . I am aware that the very beaten path is not the one I am following as I consider my time here , one of letting my imagination and intuition guide me . The excitement and enjoyment of new expressions, using new mediums and elements, mixing blending and trying new things are what makes everyday in the studio amazing. I remain true to my eclecticism and create Art following my inspiration and the passion that fuels it.
