"I'm still not sure what woke me that night, or why I walked out on to the balcony. What I will never forget was the silence. The absolute eerie silence in a city not known for any peace and quiet at all, not even from the balcony on the 32nd floor. It was very bright from the full moon, and the sky was particularly clear that morning. I remember thinking it might have been a beautiful scene if not for the sheer lack of any sound or movement on the streets below." Wee Small Hours was one of the first four pieces I did and is verso one of the original Habitat for Humanity signs.I started the piece in March 2020 and completed it in April. As you will remember, that was an emotionally charged time. We were all glued to the news 24x7 and much of the news was bleak. The mood of this piece evolved into a calming influence (perfect for hanging over a sofa or a bed), but it didn't start out that way. You should be able to see significant pentimento from the original work I did that represented a much darker world view.(see photos of the original look which will be provided to the buyer). I eventually got my mind right and realized this piece would be better coming to you from a more serene angle.

After a 30 year career in advertising and sales leadership I escaped the corporate media world a few years ago and can now focus on creating my own work. In other words, I'm an outsider artist that has decades of ideas pouring out. My intent is primarily to create pieces of art that are highly visual and interesting to enjoy and study... but may often express ideas, ask questions, unearth feelings, debate opinions, or sometimes be provocative. Like many paintings though, they're often just a combination of lines, shapes, colors, textures, and space. That said; I hope my work presents a UNIQUE combination of art elements to you and that you like what you see. Better yet, I hope you believe some of my pieces should be included in your collection. I've traveled the world but have always lived in the Philadelphia area. While I have no formal training as an artist, I've been a photographer and I've been around the art community my whole life. My wife Suzanne works as a Docent for the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, and together we've raised three wonderful sons that are all now making their own way in the world. We have a home and our studio in Chester County PA with our Bernese Mountain Dog; Mr Charlie.
